Suffer Well
It’s hard to go through trials and suffering and remain steadfast in hope. That isn’t always easy for a Christian either. Christian or not, we all experience really difficult times and grief falls on us all. We are not promised a life of ease. Sometimes the troubles are relentless. You barely crawl over one mountain and find 10 more in the distance. This poem was inspired by times in my life when I was experiencing just that. I just didn’t understand. But I knew that in suffering was my greatest witness. The world should wonder how and why we are able to speak of hope through such pain and anguish. We should be able to tell them of a God who sustains and carries us. I am reminded of 1 Peter 5:10 which says, “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast.”
We will suffer, but only for a little while and what do others see when you suffer?
