While this poem is pretty self explanatory and while it also seems pretty dark, it ends with the hope we have in Christ’s second coming which for a believer will be a glorious day! While it is sad to see the world around us at such odds and in such turmoil, it should not come as a surprise to us. Scripture tells us this is what we should expect and it tells us that we have a greater hope yet to come. As I look around at my fellow man, there is nothing new under the sun. Truly, our hearts have been corrupt and wayward from our birth. We hurt one another and fail to love one another so very often. It hurts me to know that so many people live without an expectant joy of what’s to come. It hurts to see so many believing this world is all there is and all they have to look forward to. Without hope in Christ and His second coming, I can certainly see how this world would despair. Sin corrupts hearts and sinful hearts corrupt the world. But allow me to leave you with this… “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgement, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.” Hebrews 9:27-28
Our hope is still to come.
