Look At You

This poem may seem harsh but if you are a Christian, it would serve us well to humble ourselves and remember what a vile state we were in before Christ. Scripture does not mince words on the mess we were and we would do well to remember what it took to bring us out of that state. We were all once enemies of God (Romans 5:10). We were slaves to our passions and flesh (Titus 3:3). Even as “lukewarm” in faith, we will be vomited out and rejected (Revelation 3:16). We were unclean like filthy, dirty, rags (Isaiah 64:6). We were “vessels of wrath prepared for destruction” (Romans 9:22). God is serious about sin. We were all headed for the same sentence before placing our faith in Christ. We were all equally vile. It’s easy to look at those who are not saved and judge based on their words and deeds but don’t forget that’s exactly where you would be without Jesus. Christ can make even the vilest clean (1 John 1:7), “and such were some of you.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
