Give Up
I wrote this poem as I struggled with the courage to speak to someone about Christ. If you are a Christian, I know you’ve been there too. I hope you have. We wrestle with our thoughts and our doubts. We wrestle with our own insecurities and we tell ourselves that it probably won’t matter anyway. We make excuses and instead of remaining strong, we just want to give up. Perhaps we have spoken to them before. Perhaps the chance keeps coming up but we run from it every time. That’s me so often. I sit back and quietly judge while refusing to come alongside. I want to speak but just stay quiet. I want to tell them about Jesus but my courage wains, afraid of how they might respond. Ultimately, we cannot save them but we can plant a seed that God will water. We are not given a spirit of timidity. We cannot give up.
