80’s Baby
It’s easy to say that growing up in the 80’s was the absolute best time to grow up. So much color and so much excitement. So many new gadgets and technology to enjoy! I do miss the simplicity of it all. The memories of that time are very fond memories which is why I wrote this poem. What a sweet and enjoyable time! I look back now with so much nostalgic reflection. I rode my bike around the neighborhood with not a care in the world. I walked into my neighbor’s house unannounced every day. I spent every weekend at the skating rink and actually got pretty good at skating backwards! I set up a “painted rock” stand in my driveway to sell to my sweet old neighbors. I mean, who doesn’t need or want a painted rock by a 9 year old? Especially when they are being sold at the bargain price of $5.00?! The entire family, immediate and extended gathered together for holidays before the world tore the family apart over time. As a child I spent so much time on the lake or in the woods hunting and fishing. Those times were some I remember most. Although things were not always perfect, I am thankful to be an 80’s baby. What a time to be alive!
